The Mid-Century Gems (MCG) Scholarship Program is dedicated to fostering the passion and talent of students pursuing careers in fields connected to mid-century design, architecture, preservation, and related disciplines. By providing both financial assistance and educational support, this program empowers the next generation of professionals to carry forward the legacy of the mid-century era.

The MCG Scholarship Program offers monetary awards and mentorship opportunities to students who demonstrate exceptional dedication and creativity in mid-century-related niches. These scholarships support aspiring professionals across a variety of disciplines, nurturing the next generation of leaders dedicated to preserving, evolving, and celebrating mid-century modernism. This includes fields such as:


Architecture

Supporting students specializing in designing and restoring mid-century structures, including residential homes, public spaces, and cultural landmarks that embody the clean lines and functional beauty of the era.

Furniture and Industrial Design

Preservation Studies

What the Scholarship Includes


The MCG Scholarship Program is designed to provide more than just financial aid. It offers a comprehensive package of support and opportunities that empower recipients to excel in their chosen mid-century-related fields.


Financial Support

Each scholarship recipient receives monetary awards ranging from $1,000 to $2,000. These funds can be used to offset tuition costs, purchase necessary materials, or cover expenses for academic and creative projects. By easing financial burdens, recipients can focus more on their studies and less on economic challenges.

Eligibility Requirements


Applicants must meet the following criteria:


  • Demonstrate academic excellence and a passion for mid-century modernism through a personal essay, portfolio, or project proposal.

  • Commit to sharing updates on their academic journey or career progress as part of the MCG community.

  • Currently enrolled or accepted into an accredited program related to one of the mid-century niche categories listed above.







 

How to Apply


Applications will open annually on July 15, and will close on November 15. To apply, students must submit:


  • A completed application form (available on the MCG website).

  • A personal essay (1,000 words) explaining their interest in mid-century design and how the scholarship will support their goals.

  • A portfolio or samples of work relevant to their field of study.

  • Two letters of recommendation from a mentor, professor, or industry professional.

  • Optional: A short story (up to 1,000 words) exploring the inspiration behind their decision to pursue a profession within the mid-century community.







 

Selection Process


Applications are reviewed by a select panel of MCG experts and professionals from various mid-century niches. Recipients will be chosen based on the originality, passion, and potential demonstrated in their submissions. Recipients will be announced each year on December 15.
